The Australian Institute of Project Management (AIPM) and the Hargraves Institute today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), formalising the on-going cooperation between the two bodies and providing a platform for future joint representation.
The Hargraves Institute is a membership community which uses the experiences of those members to provide them with the leading innovative practices to address their issues and assist those responsible for innovation and leadership training and development across their organistions.
AIPM CEO, Ms Yvonne Butler, expressed her delight with the signing when she said “Information, Innovation and Influence is one of the AIPM’s key strategic pillars. Innovation without execution through project management is just another good idea. Although they appear contradictory, project management does not stifle innovation; rather thinking and acting with agility using good project management rigour in an ambiguous environment helps organisations to deliver on their strategic and business objectives.”
Hargraves Institute Executive Director, Allan Ryan, said “Innovation without execution is just a bunch of ideas. AIPM and its membership are vitally important to the success of Australia’s Innovation System and every Australian. Hargraves members understand the importance of project management and the impact of good project management on organisational performance. Collaboration with AIPM is a strategic imperative to deliver better innovation performance for both memberships.“
The MoU between the two organisations will help innovators to have a delivery mindset and project manager to have an innovation mindset.
The agreement will see the two bodies work closely to further the interests of Australian business through improved delivery of key innovation projects. “Innovation exists in every project. Working with industry leaders like the Hargraves Institute provides us the opportunity to profile how innovation and good project management can help drive national productivity” Ms Butler went on to say.
