The Defence CoP provides a collaborative network focused on building best practice in defence project management. We recognise our community are advocates for striving towards project management excellence in defence projects. This means we learn from other, sharing expertise while building capacity and solving problems in defence projects.
Defence project management requires multi-disciplinary understanding of many areas of professional disciplines – from technical professions through to government procurement guidelines, international arms regulations, capability development, risk management, and ensuring appropriate engagement of the right authorities.
The Defence CoP is driven to improve project management best practises within the defence sector and to support the project management community and related disciplines to implement projects successfully.

The Project Controls community of practice is for professionals and trainees engaged in the quantitative areas of project management. The CoP’s focus is to foster an inclusive project controls community across Australia and be considered a facilitator for project controls within industry.
Key disciplines include planning, scheduling, cost estimation, earned value management, performance measurement, forensic assessment, risk management, document control, and the project management methodologies that integrate the people, tools, systems, and processes who use them. The CoP aims to meet four times per year to present, highlight, and discuss relevant topics within the project controls area.
