Presented by Robert Cotton, Visiting Fellow at the Crawford School of Public Policy at the ANU

Networking is all about developing relationships beyond your specific work area and responsibilities. Effective networking benefits you, your work area and your organisation. It requires personal initiative and asks you to reach out beyond your normal remit. Networking is not gossip. It is seeking accurate information, to help get things done and to establish the wider context for decision-making.
Throughout Roberts’s career, building relationships was an essential part of his work. However, there is little benefit to networking unless there are tangible benefits to you and others in a network. In his presentation, Robert will help you improve the effectiveness of your networking skillset, and provide valuable insights into how you can create the most value out of your professional networks.
