The Chief Executive Officer of the Australian Institute of Project Management (AIPM), Dr. Darius Danesh represented the institute and its members at the Australian Construction Industry Forum (ACIF) and the Ministerial meetings held on 28 November 2023 at the Australian Parliament House, where he had the honour of meeting with the Hon Sussan Ley MP – the Shadow Minister for Industry, Skills and Training; the Hon Catherine King MP – the Minister for Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Local Government; the Hon Julie Collins MP – the Minister for Housing and Small Business; and Senator David Pocock.
Dr. Danesh took the opportunity to highlight the pivotal role that the AIPM plays as a leading project management body in Australia, focusing on the enhancement of project management skills and advocating for the implementation of regulations and competency assessments for project managers including the Registered Project Manager (RegPM™).
He emphasised the importance of having regulations in place, providing a national benchmark of project management competency standards, and ensuring that project managers are recognised for their credibility. He also touched upon the potential consequences of engaging unqualified project managers and the adverse impacts it can have on projects, companies, and the broader community.
The AIPM remains committed to promoting excellence in project management and advocating for industry regulations that contribute to the overall success and integrity of projects across the nation.
