The demand for project management skills continues to grow across a range of industries, and professionals are building lucrative and rewarding careers.
For nearly 50 years, the AIPM has been driving project management across Australia.
There aren’t any requirements for our Individual Membership. We welcome diversity in our membership, so whether you’re an experienced project manager or someone who has an interest in project management, we invite you to join our community. You’ll need to provide your contact information and credit card details to start your membership.
Acceptable evidence of enrolment includes one of the following:
Once you have finished your studies, you will be eligible to upgrade to become an Individual Member of AIPM.
To upgrade your membership, please contact us. Student members upgrading to member status will need to pay the prorated difference in membership fees between the Student Membership and Individual Membership.
Membership lasts for a period of one year. As the year comes to an end, you will be sent a reminder email to renew your membership.
Our preferred method of payment is via credit card. We don’t currently offer instalment plans.
Our system will automatically generate an invoice for you upon payment, which will go to your email (please also check your junk email or spam folders). However, if you require another copy, you can find that by logging into your account.
Some organisations may support their staff financially as part of their professional development portfolio. If you find that your organisation doesn’t cover membership, the great thing about AIPM membership is it is tax deductible.
If your membership has expired or has been suspended, please contact us and we will assist you in renewing your membership. Renewing is a simple process of reviewing and updating your contact details and making payment of the annual membership fee.
If you are retired, over 55, and have been an AIPM member for the past five years, you are eligible for a 50% discount. Retired membership includes all the benefits of full membership.
Members on parental leave are eligible for a discounted membership rate for a maximum of 12 months. Certified members on parental leave only need to accumulate 35 CPD points, instead of 70, during the award period their parental leave falls in.
Current members who are experiencing a hardship event are eligible for a reduced six-month membership rate, for a maximum of 12 months across their entire lifetime of AIPM membership.
Members engaging in volunteer work are eligible for a reduced six-month membership rate once across the entire lifetime of AIPM membership.
Please contact us to formally submit your request.
You may have seen MAIPM or FAIPM listed at the end of your name or another member’s name. These are the postnominals (letters) members can place at the end of their name when they are members of AIPM. Stand out from the crowd with AIPM postnominals that demonstrate your commitment to your continued professional development.
When you apply for AIPM membership, you are explicitly accepting the following terms and conditions:
Before proceeding with your membership and RegPM certification application, we strongly encourage you to carefully read and understand these terms and conditions. If you have any questions or concerns about these conditions, we encourage you to contact our support team at info@aipm.com.au for clarification before making your payment.
If you’re unsure which certification level is right for you, visit our certification page which runs through the different levels in detail. You can also take our self-evaluation quiz to help you determine which level to apply for or make an enquiry for more assistance.
No, certification is not industry specific. The great part about our certification program, is that once you’re certified as a project professional it will apply no matter which industry you work in. RegPM™ certification is based on the Professional Competency Standards for Project Management (PCSPM), which was developed using cross-industry feedback.
We will automatically grant the Certified Practising Project Practitioner (CPPP) level of RegPM™ certification to individuals who have completed a course or certification on our approved list including PMP®. To apply for this, you will need to be an AIPM as an Individual Member.
The short answer is no, as there is a difference between a certification (issued by a professional body) and a qualification (issued by a university, TAFE, or registered training authority etc.).
While certification assesses your workplace-based competency, generally qualifications issued by universities and other higher education institutions do not include a competency-based component in the assessment criteria. Instead, the assessment component usually comprises of exams and assignments, and focuses on knowledge only.
The RegPM™ is a workplace assessment program. When compiling the logbook for the RegPM™, you must be able to provide evidence from a recent project or projects within the past 3 years for each performance criteria.
This will be easier to do if you are currently working on a project(s). If you are not working on a project, then it may take longer to gather the evidence. It is also possible to complete the program using evidence of your project management capabilities applied in some other context, e.g., projects you may be involved in for volunteer associations.
Although from a workplace assessment perspective, it is often useful for your assessor to observe you in your working environment, it is not essential. A number of overseas candidates have successfully completed our certification program, communicating with their assessors over email and by video calls.
Please keep in mind you will need to be able to complete your assessment documentation, provide project management evidence, and partake in an interview in English.
When you apply for a RegPM certification, you are explicitly accepting the following terms and conditions:

AIPM’s assessors are highly skilled project management professionals who are experienced in project management and competency-based assessment methods.
There is no pass or fail criteria, only ‘competent’ or ‘not yet competent’. If you receive a ‘not yet competent’, your assessor will provide guidance on where the gaps are, and you can choose how to fill the gaps. The current assessment process will be closed and if you wish to be assessed again when you have closed the gaps, this will require a new certification assessment application.
There is a six-month timeframe for candidates to complete their assessment after applying. If you have been involved in project management for some time, you may be able to complete your assessment sooner than this.
If you are unable to meet the deadline for the submission of your assessment evidence due to extenuating circumstances (such as serious illness or bereavement) you may apply for a one-month extension.
Other situations will be dealt with on a case-by-case basis. To be considered, circumstances must be supported with written evidence. All extension requests are subject to the AIPM RegPM™ Extension Policy.
The AIPM will issue a digital certificate with on successful completion of the assessment process. After you have been awarded a RegPM™ certification at one of the six levels, you will be able to add the following postnominals after your surname:
You can add the postnominals to your email signature, resume, letterhead, and LinkedIn profile to highlight your competency in project management.
It’s important once you have completed your certification to continue your knowledge of the project management space. To maintain your RegPM™ certification you will need to undertake continual professional development (CPD) and maintain 70 CPD points over the course of three years. We offer you a host of ways to upskill and stay updated on all that is latest from the project management industry. Access our CPD categories and points table.
Certification is a benefit of membership of the AIPM. For your certification to remain valid, and to continue to use the postnominals, you need to remain a member by paying your annual membership renewal fee.
You will need to opt-in to the member directory. To do this, log into your account and access your profile. In the “About me” section, under profile preference, select ‘Yes’ to list me on the member directory.
You will be listed as a member and RegPM™ certified for the duration of your award period (three years from the date your RegPM™ certification was issued, subject to continued membership of the AIPM. After three years, RegPM™ certification recipients must recertify to remain on the directory.
You can only recertify at your current RegPM™ level and this is achieved by payment of a recertification fee and meeting of CPD requirements. If you choose to upgrade to the next level of certification (i.e., CPPP to CPPM™ or CPPM to CPPD/CPPE) you will need to demonstrate competency at this new level, and this is classified as a new assessment.
The CPD log is a self-managed system. To log your CPD points, you’ll need to log into your account. Once logged in, select the button ‘Update CPD’ under RegPM™ certification or click here.
Please refer to the CPD categories and points table to determine how many CPD points you are eligible for and what category the record should come under.
Once you have submitted CPD points, you are not able to edit the records. To make any amendments, please email regpm@aipm.com.au or contact us detailing the changes that need to be made.
While you are not required to upload your evidence to the AIPM website, you are required to retain a copy of your evidence for your certification period (three years). Should you be subject to a CPD audit, you will be required to show evidence of your CPD.
Evidence may include certificates of attendance or attainment, confirmation of webinar or event attendance, or other documented evidence as identified in CPD categories and points table.
Another common reason for points that you have submitted not reflecting on your records is that the date was not within the award period. All activities logged for CPD points must fall within the award period of your certification.
For example: If you were awarded certification on 11 June 2023, you cannot record CPD points for a conference you attended on 5 March 2021.
AIPM will automatically assign CPD points for most live events if the member has registered for the event and attended the entire live screening. Point allocation will take a few days to show on your CPD account following the event.
When you recertify, your CPD status will reset to zero and you will need to log 70 CPD points across the new three-year term.
All online events are recorded so that they can be watched later. Videos are typically uploaded within 24-48 hours of the event. If you registered for the event, you will receive an email with a link to watch it when it is available.
If you attended the full duration of an online or in-person event, the CPD points will be applied automatically. If you watch the event OnDemand, you will need to upload your CPD points yourself.
See the above section on CPD points for more information.
Please direct your comments or questions to the president of your state chapter.
All users will need to login or create an account to register for an event. You can register others within your organisation but no longer can register guests for an event. After you add the event to your cart and pay, you will be sent an order and event booking confirmation email.

You can search for the course on our endorsed course directory on our website.
The courses endorsed by the AIPM have been assessed by project management specialists and meet the requirements of the project management industry. AIPM endorsed courses can assist you in:
The AIPM delivers workshops in specialty areas and we also endorse project management courses by other organisations and educational providers that align to industry standards, as listed on our endorsed course directory. Please contact providers of our endorsed courses for details regarding course duration, delivery mode, location, and which course level is right for you.
We cannot give advice or recommendations when selecting an endorsed course. All courses listed on our endorsed course register have been audited and awarded endorsement by us and have met the same criteria, therefore we cannot recommend one course over the other.
To help you narrow down the results, you can filter courses by location, delivery mode and course type on our directory. We suggest contacting the endorsed course provider for advice. Use the ‘visit course’ button on our register to go to the provider’s course page.
We cannot give advice or recommendations when selecting a course. As your education needs are based on your personal needs, please consider the differences between a VET or higher education qualification to ensure the course you choose is right for you.
As we are not a governing body, we do not audit all project management training that is publicly available. Courses that appear on our endorsed course register have been audited at the providers’ request. We recommend visiting the Australian Government’s directory of training, My Skills for VET courses, and TEQSA National Register for higher education courses for more information.

At this stage, all AIPM members including Organisation Partner Members will have access to the portal and the same benefits. In the future, we will look at delivering a way organisation members can use their free events and will advise if and when this is available.
You may need to request your organisation to add *.webcastcloud.com to their domain whitelist if you are trying to access the platform on your employer’s protected network. In the meantime, you will need to access AIPM OnDemand outside the protected network.
A channel is a collection of similar videos, video series or a recorded event that is made up of many videos. In cases of recorded multi-video events, you can purchase the entire channel for a discounted price (rather than purchasing the individual videos). To experience our online seminar and forum events, we recommend purchasing the event as a channel and watching the videos in the order we present them.
To experience our online seminar and forum events, we recommend purchasing the event channel as a whole. To purchase an event channel, click ‘filters’ on the AIPM OnDemand homepage and select the event channel you would like to purchase. You should see a button that shows the channel price. Click ‘Buy Channel’ and checkout. These videos will now be available for you to watch anytime, using your logins.
You can also launch a channel by filtering for the channel and selecting the ‘launch channel’ button.
Many of our channels are not offered at an event channel price. Channels such as webinars, Communities of Practice, featured webinars are only sold individually.
To access videos you’ve purchased, return to the AIPM OnDemand video channel homepage and locate the video(s). You will now be able to play your purchased videos. You will no longer be promoted to purchase these when you are logged in. You can also find purchased videos by going to the video channel homepage and selecting ‘filter’ and ‘My List’. All purchased videos will appear here in the future to watch at your leisure.
AIPM Members can watch many webinars for free, which you can find under the events and webinar channels. When logged in as a member, free videos will not show a price. If you are not an AIPM Member, we have a select number of free videos and will add some periodically throughout the year.
To claim your points from these on-demand videos, you’ll need to manually record your points. To do this, log in to the AIPM website and locate your CPD points in your account. Record your CPD points from each presentation watched. You no longer need to upload documentary evidence but need to keep evidence for the length of your award period.
